of Toru and Tania Yanada.

Toru Yanada - Chef
Toru was born in Tokyo and attended Hattori College of Culinary Excellence. Toru specialised in French
and Italian cuisine and spent time training in Europe as part of his college education. Toru then spent 12 years working at
one of Tokyo’s most celebrated French restaurants, Madame Toki. Toru then decided to broaden his culinary repertoire
by spending a few months as a consultant at an organic Japanese restaurant and six months at a contemporary Lebanese
restaurant in Sydney, Australia.
In 2004 Toru moved to England and started working at Hibiscus, a Michelin 2 star restaurant in Ludlow. After seeing all the fantastic produce Shropshire had to offer, Toru
wanted to learn about traditional English cuisine and moved to Hundred House Hotel, Norton, Shropshire. Most recently
Toru spent a year at Simpsons restaurant (Michelin 1 star) in Birmingham.
Toru's knowledge of the sensitive and aesthetic Japanese food culture combines
perfectly with the intricate and sophisticated nature of French cuisine. However, Toru’s creative style is very unpretentious
and heavily influenced by a passion for a wide range of food cultures including English. Toru’s menus subtly and gently
reflect his influences and rather than fusion, are based on traditional dishes from around the world.

Tania
Yanada - Event Organiser
Tania graduated from Brighton University
with a BAHons degree in Culture and History. After university Tania worked in publishing. Tania’s love of travel took her
to Tokyo where she worked as a Sub Editor of English textbooks and taught English part time. Tania then travelled to Australia
with Toru and worked as a volunteer on organic wineries and farms. This was the first step in pursuing her love of good food
and wine full time.
Tania returned to Shropshire in 2004 and in a career move closer to good food she worked for Aga-Rayburn
in the Marketing department. Unable to stay away from the restaurant industry any longer, Tania was given the opportunity
to gain vital experience at The Mytton and Mermaid in Atcham. Tania then moved with Toru to Birmingham to work front-of-house
for a year at Simpsons Restaurant which is renowned for its outstanding level of customer service.
